Cat and I went down to The Candy Shop in Soho for the ‘crep protect’ launch to support J2k with his new brand or trainer and shoe spray which I must say is very good. I have used it on my suede boots and it’s great I recommend you getting a can.I thought it was a really great location for a launch and saw lots of familiar faces.

Target, Manny and JJ all showed off their skills on the decks and the tunes kept everyone bubbling. The highlight has to be the photo booth what great fun we had taking loads of pictures in the booth.

You can now pledge on one off experiences that ive put together for you which will support some exciting new projects!

Hey nyettes, new comers, mermaids and night owls.

I have put together some one off goodies and experiences for you to pledge on that I think you will really enjoy including a roller skating lesson, dog walk, coffee and a chat, pen pal, sit in a rehearsal, pamper day plus many more.

Your pledges will raise money so i can put on a headline show for you in my home town London. May 9th at Electric workz in Angel.

Being an independent artist means that I am at the mercy of my wonderful fans, that means you are in control of my career. I put my trust and faith in your hands.

I have already reached 42% of my target and have 47 days left. Yesterday I met with a pledger a lovely girl called Elle for a coffee and a chat we took pictures and had a really nice time. I have sent letters to those who pledged on ‘pen pal’ I’m really looking forward to receiving letters back and I have a pamper day scheduled in a few weeks.

Once I reach my target amount I will donate 15% to ‘Save the children’ a charity which helps children all over the world with issues we cannot even imagine. It means a lot to me as my dad works for Save the children in Ethiopia and I know that it really does make a difference! Help a child, help yourself.

Standard Tickets for the show will not be available to pledge on but VIP ones are. The standard tickets are £10 and can be purchased from http://www.nyofficial.co.uk/aneveningwithny/

Thanks for your support, now get pledging.

Sunny day

Image

The sunshine is out and the Sky’s bright. Walking over the marshes just a small piece of green and peace amongst the grey streets. Ducks flying over the canal, colourful barge boats with pretty names.

Image

Black butterflies fluttering through new budding trees and water skaters on the small pond on the wooded side of the marshes. Lots of cyclists going back and forth and strolling couples hand in hand. Two Daisy’s represent the first growth of this slow starting spring.

Dj cameo birthday bash

March 30

I was really excited when Dj cameo asked me to do a Live PA at his birthday bash at Scala a venue in  kings cross.

Cameo was one of the  first dj’s to play my music on the radio when I had my first track ‘fire’ on my mixtape ‘Split endz ‘volume 1 which I released in 2006.

Styled by @talithastylist in a black leather like high waisted skirt with a cream border. A cream and black crop top and black wedge trainers.Talitha, Amalia, Nikitta and I headed down together once we got there we watched some of the mc sets.

Image

There were 100 artists on the flyer and 3 rooms, House/garage, Bashment/afrobeat and the main room Grime/UK funky/hiphop.

Bumped into Marvel, P-money, ratlin, bless beats, dollar, Krept and Konan, kozzie, Sneakbo, my darling Adam deacon and the beautiful Egypt who performed ‘in the morning’ on the UK funky set

I took it back old skool and i sung an acapella of Fire and then performed my funky track. ‘Falling again’ produced by Wookie. The crowd was lovely and the ladies were representing fully.

We all had a great night, I was on vodka cranberry.

If you were there feel free to add pictures.

UMS Gig

It was a cold Sunday evening in the city,I was invited to perform with Renell and Mike otherwise known as UMS an interesting and innovating duo, along with some other talented artists. The venue Charlie Wrights in Old Street is a well established live music joint.

image2

The walls were covered in pictures of the previous bands that have played under its roof, dim lighting set the mood for our sultry and unique set. We performed our tracks ’embrace, fire and reggae influenced Warrior love’ taking the audience from sexual to powerful vibe through the set.

Image

I wore a zebra inspired print light dress longer at the back with mint green suede heels. Lengthy Red shimmery pointed nails with jeweled tips.

The vibe was soothing and warm I the atmosphere was great, I really enjoyed doing something different.

London Fashion Week

I had my first taste of the catwalk  today at the ‘double tree’ Hilton hotel in Holborn today. I was no longer Ny the artist but transformed into Ny the catwalk model. I kept having flashes of me dropping off or tripping on the runway!

We arrived at 1pm and typical me I was hungry so we all went off to cafe Nero I had a hot chocolate and a cheese, mushroom panini i felt a little guilty like I shoulda been eating crackers or grapes but hey a girls gotta eat.

The hot room was bustling with girls  in and out, hair make up, getting dressed and undressed, being pulled, squeezed, prodded into all kinds of outfits it was crazy! I was lucky enough to have my own team doing my hair and make up so avoided the conveyor belt system but I understood why some models can seem so stern and snappy and how unlike my job as an artist they are just expected to be a blank canvas for the item they are wearing, it was strange to me I can now appreciate how hard it can be To be a model.

I wore a gold rope mini dress with beaded detail for the finale of the Suzunushi VIP range check it out on my instagram.

Image

@thebeautyholder Donna-Marie gave me some dark smokey eyes, natural base, lashes and strong red lips.

@catnails put gold leaf and gold circle studs on my pointed nails, @cherishair gave me a slick with a long weave pony tail style, was pretty cool having super long hair. It looked like a beautiful horses tail and I chuckled thinking at least I’m wearing it and Not eating it! (Happy being a veggie)

A great experience and who knows I may take to the cat walk again.

Snow

Most of us, including myself love the summer and all the beauty it brings. Being a cancerian my birthday is in June so i’m a real summer baby. The warm sunshine is always at the back of our minds. Christmas saw no snow just bitterly cold nights. The new year has brought days and nights of snow, when I first saw it falling outside my window my heart sunk, thinking about the cold, the wet, the annoying kids throwing snowballs, my car covered in snow that I have to scrape off and wait to heat up.

However I was pleasantly  surprised by the community spirit it has encouraged among us.

My little brother Ajani , Raine (the dog) and I went for a walk on Hampstead  Heath north London up to a place called kite hill famous for flying kites and the clear view across London city.

photo

The air was filled with screams and laughter and as we got to the top we saw almost 60 people some admiring the white covered views, others taking pictures but the majority on all kinds of sleighs making the most of the slopes. The atmosphere was infectious, the cold was forgotten and excitement was everywhere.

We watched two girls holding tight to each other on crates, a guy with a snowboard speeding down and by the time he walked back up the hill he was covered in mud from his tumble half way down.

photo

Children being pulled along by parents on plastic and wooden slays and there were so many dog walkers also enjoying the snow.

I felt a sense of pride that so many people took to the park despite the cold and  as we walked through the towards the ponds we saw many snow men and women, lots of families and friends playing.

Back in the warmth of the house planning our next snow expedition.

Let me know your best snowy stories and send me pictures of your snow people.
